2JunNeed a bookkeeper for End of Financial Year?

Posted on 2/06/2015 by Nine2Three

Bookkeepers are always in demand for End of Financial year  work. Clients either leave it to the last minute to decide that they want to make structural changes to their general ledger, or they start to review and find that there are many areas that need to be adjusted.

Some of the things that a good bookkeeper should look at in regards to the end of the financial year include:

•Review and clear temporary and suspense  accounts

•Finalise all transactions for period

•Reconcile all bank, loan  and credit card accounts

•Check and reconcile all accrued payables with supplier statements

•Reconcile accounts payable and receivable sub ledgers against the balance sheet looking for any out of balance amounts.

•Complete a stock take and reconcile with inventory

•Ensure any non cash transactions are entered

•Review the P&L and Balance sheet looking for unusual amounts or anomalies

It is important to have your data reviewed by your accountant well before end of June, so that any tax planning can be implemented and the numbers reviewed while there is still time to make decisions around the information presented.

Make sure your accountant and bookkeeper are in contact and working together to give you the best outcomes for the year.
